La planta espinosilla de acuerdo a los datos es una planta medicinal que ha sido empleado desde tiempos prehispanicos. La espinosilla se utiliza para un sin fin de enfermeades entre las cuases se destaca: Enfermedades respiratorias como la gripe, bronquitis, inflamacion de la garganta, la disenteria, inflamacion de el estomago, la indigestion y la bilis. 

Algunos datos mencionan la efectividad donde se ha utilizado para prevenir y tratar la varicela, la rubeola, el sarampion, dolores de cabeza; incluse se ha utilizado como purgarnte natural.

Expertos aseguran que la espinosilla sirve para el cuidado del cabello especialmente para evitar la caida, estimulando el crecimiento y fortalecimiento del cabello dese la raiz.  Elimina la caspa y grasa del cuero cabelludo.
